My 5 favourite personality tests to know yourself, hire a team member or improve any relationship.

by

Here are The Five Personality Tests to know yourself better, hire a team member or improve any relationship.

I’ve used them for many years. I find them very insightful.

I usually follow my instinct and intuition when relating to people. Yet, I’m infinitely curious and driven by connection. And so I’m puzzled when I’m faced with people with home the simpatico feeling doesn’t arise instantly. Because I’m innately driven by connection, I try to find ways to create a bridge between that person and I.

I see we all operate and experience the world in a different way.

Different perspectives. Different view points. Different approaches. That is so enriching.

I noticed it could be unsettling too if we’re not understanding where the other is coming from. I’m curious about that aspect. And I look at this as an asset to our partnership or relationship: to understand the others strengths, their zone of genius. To get to discover what their core values are, what fuels and motivates them. It opens up another level to the relationship.

It’s also pleasurable to be curious about ourselves and others. A better understanding has always a fruitful outcome. Whether you’re looking to understand yourself better, or you want to hire a team member, or need to work with someone on a project or you want to improve a relationship- do these personality test. They will give you different insights of the many layers that makes us US- depending on what you’re looking for.

1- How you experience the world?

The Myers–Briggs Type Indicator is an introspective self-report questionnaire with the purpose of indicating differing psychological preferences in how people perceive the world around them and make decisions.

That gives you a huge insight on how you operate. Why you make the decisions you make. What’s really the motivation and desire behind everything you want to do, be and have.

My Myers-Briggs Type Indicator is:INFJ

2- What’s the shape of your soul?

The Enneagram, is a description of the human psyche which is principally understood and taught as a typology of nine interconnected personality types. It gives you an insight of how you perform at your best, when you’re in sync with yourself and your environment and it also gives you an understanding of when you perform at your worst, when you’re stressed and ovehelmed.

My enneagram is: I’m a Type 5 and become a Type 8 when I’m in growth and Type 7 when I’m stressed.

3- How you love to be loved?

I feel love is at the core of all our relationships either we choose love (communication and connection) or separation ( conflict, disconnection and working in silo).

The 5 Love Languages® by Gary Chapman helps you discover your love language and begin improving your relationships.Your love language profile will explain your primary love language, what it means, and how you can use it to connect to others.

Here you dive into what’s important for you, your own love language: is it physical touch, quality time, receiving gifts, words of affirmation or acts of service? It may be a combination of these.

How is that important in your relationship? Well, it makes you understand how you feel the love. And the manner you experience that feeling of being loved, acknowledged and appreciated whether as a lover, friend, or as a colleague.

My love language is a tie between quality time and acts of service.

4- Understanding Your zone of Genius:

The Strength Finder allows you to get an understanding about:

  • How do you absorb, think about and analyze information and situations?
  • How do you make things happen?
  • How do you influence others?
  • How do you build and nurture strong relationships?

We often put so much attention on improving what we’re not good at. So I find the strength finder useful in capitalising on what comes to you naturally. That saves you energy feeling you’re work in progress. And put you in a flow of confidence.

My core strengths are:  empathy, strategy, adaptability, ideation, deliberation.

5- Uncovering the deeper motivations of your Soul:

Psychoanalyst Carl Jung identified numerous archetypes – character models which help to shape our personalities and which we aspire to be more like.It may feel a bit woo woo. And I find them fascinating.

My result: the creative, the spiritual, the visionary. it was a tie between all three.
